Use the most common known memory cards from your handy, PDA oder digital camera with the Mercedes Player MP40.
The Mercedes Player MP40 plays mp3 songs from up to 4 memory cards. The most popular memory cards MMC, SD and Compact Flash can be used.
The capacity is nearly unlimited and is determined only by the storage capacity of your memory cards SD, MMC und Compact Flash cards. They can be used in any mixed combination and be combined with different storage sizes, too, e.g.: 16 MB, 512 MB, 1GB, 8GB etc. - all known sizes.
The memory cards are housed by the Card Driver CD1, CD2, CD3, CD4 of the MercedesPlayer MP40.

Memroy Cards are defined by different types of standards. Some are known of their form factor. Other differentiators are independent of the appearance: access speed and memory capacity, typically defined through a print label on the card.
Insert into the cards driver the appropriate cards only. When inserting coins or other inapproriate items into Card Drive 1, Card Drive 2, Card Drive 3, Card Drive 4 mechanical or electrical damage can result. This leads to loss of warranty.
When operating in tropical or desert regions it might be advisable to use memory cards with extended temperature range. The Mercedes Player MP40 accepts cards with extended temperature range.
Die SD memory card is the most common used card type world wide. Different sizes are available: Standard – mini – micro.
At the card edge is a "LOCK" for protection. As the Mercedes Player MP40 does only read from the card the position of the lock is not of relevance. Hint: Deactivate the lock when insterting into a PC or laptop in order to write new songs onto the card.
SD and SDHC
The standard size was the first availabel SD format. It fits into Card Driver 1 und Card Driver 2 without SD adapters.
A new verion is the High Capability (HC) type. This enables high Gigabyte Storage for SD cards. As this is a new version on the market only newer types of decices like digital cameras are compliant..
The Mercedes Player MP40 can accept all SD und SDHC memory capacities.
miniSD und miniSDHC
These memory cards are favourized by PDAs and Handys and used without adapter.
The Mercedes Player MP40 requies the adapter and can load the cards into Card Driver 1 and Card Driver 2.
The Mercedes Player MP40 can accept all miniSD and miniSDHC memory capacities.
microSD and microSDHC
These memory cards are favourized by PDAs and Handys and used without adapter.

Both, SD and MMC do have the typical stamp size format. MMC has the same size as SD., but 0,7 mm thinner. Therefor some devices accepting MMC are not prepared to accept SD cards. The other way round works very well in most cases.
MMC
The standard size was the first availabel MMCformat. It fits into Card Driver 1 und Card Driver 2 without adapters.
The Mercedes Player MP40 can accept all MMC memory capacities.
RS-MMC
The Reduced Size (RS) MMC was designed specifically for mobille applications.
The Mercedes Player MP40 requies the adapter and can load the cards into Card Driver 1 and Card Driver 2.
The Mercedes Player MP40 can accept all RS-MMC memory capacities.
CompactFlash was one of the first widely used cards world wide. Still used today it is prefered in prime consumer products and industrial appliances when highest data rates are required. CompactFlash is available in two types of thickness: Type I und Type II.
Compact Flash Type I
CF Type I is the thin version and most used type.
CF Type I fits into Card Driver 3 und Card Driver 4 without adapters.
The Mercedes Player MP40 can accept all CF Type I memory capacities.
Compact Flash Type II
CF Type II is the thicker version and is hardly found in consumer devices.
CF Type II fits into Card Driver 4 without adapters.
The Mercedes Player MP40 can accept all CF Type II memory capacities.
Microdrive
Microdrive specification is built upon the CF Type II definition. Due to the spaceful housing a hard disk drive is fitted in.
In the early days the advantage of the microdrive was the high capacity. Today it is still used when it comes to Operating System use and fast and high counts of rewrites.
Microdrives mean strict requirements to devices. The stepping motors of the HDD mean higher current surges. Card Driver 4 ist designed to comply to these demands.
Microdrive CF Type II fits into Card Driver 4 without adapters.
The Mercedes Player MP40 can accept all Microdrive CF Type II memory capacities.
